“I’m a SoulCycle instructor and I end every class by telling my class to talk kindly to themselves and to each other. It takes just as much energy and effort to be kind as it does to be a jerk and you’re a jerk one time and people think that’s who you are. That’s all it takes. So kindness, same amount of energy, much cooler, and people will remember you for that.”
Why should we be concerned with bullying?
“I was super bullied growing up. Actually, I had to switch schools. I was tall, I had bad skin, I did theatre instead of sports. It was bad. And I’m 26 now, that all happened in the 6th grade. And I’m still talking about it. That’s why we should be concerned. Because it affects people in a big way whether you realize it or not.”
What can we do to fight the fight against bullying?
“We just have to teach our kids to be nicer. I think it all starts with how you raise them. Not just kids, adults too. Everyone bullies, and you just have to not be afraid to call people out. Hold yourself accountable, hold your friends accountable and stand up for what’s right.”
