“If you don’t lead with kindness, bullies will feel empowered to continue acting mean and bullying people. By leading with kindness you’re giving them an example of how to act. Whoever is bullying you is very insecure themselves. If you show them that you can be a kind, confident person, they’ll learn a totally new way to gain confidence and overcome their insecurity.”
Why should we be concerned with bullying?
“Mental health - I know bullying is a huge contributing factor to a lot of kids these days with depression, especially with social media. We want to make sure that kids are happy and school is a safe place for them and if bullying is still an issue, kids aren’t going to want to go to school and they’ll struggle with mental health issues.”
What can we do to fight the fight against bullying?
“We can combat bullying by more education around mental health and the effects of bullying. I was bullied, maybe not extreme like when you think bully, but I definitely had my fair share of issues growing up. It really weighs on you for the rest of your life and it changes you as a person.”
